A photo diary of the Victorian bush - specifically the area described as Herb-rich Foothill Forest. We are about 500 metres above sea level. I am not an expert, I'm an interested conservational owner.

Beetle Who?
I have a terrific book on plants in my area. Another good one on birds, although a bit complex perhaps for identification. Insects? Nada. This specimen was the second I saw today. Beautiful gold back sparkling in the sunlight, with a little band around its neck. Any clues, anyone? Snail?
Nice shot! I ain't no beetle expert but it looks like the honeybrown beetle (Ecnolagia grandis), which belongs to the darkling beetle family (Tenebrionidae).
