31 October

A roo comes close to the house but not game to venture as far as the remaining grass.

Some animal desperate enough to eat the few fungi that have popped up through the ash.

 Bracken starting to emerge.

A couple of small areas have the beginnings of grass coming back.
Good rain this weekend so we'll see what effect it has.

With those forecast rains, there'll be a carpet of green in a couple of weeks! Hopefully not too much of it'll be bracken.

There was a lot of bracken there before - it's where small birds had nests, and lots of wildlife used it for all kinds of things, including hiding from us! I don't want the place overrun with it, but there were enough spaces for wildflowers and grasses, too. So here's hoping.
I don't know if we will need to do any seed sowing - perhaps Trust for Nature will help us with that.

I meant to ask you what you thought the scat by the fungi was. Not wombat or roo or wallaby. Fox? Although from what I've seen, fox has a slightly different shape.
