It's hard to believe that it's been six years this year since the fire. While we have lost probably 15% of the trees, there are so many new ones growing - both eucalypts and acacias - that the property seems greener than ever. A mild summer this year with some rain helped, of course.
Most mornings we are there, either rosellas or parrots gather on the roof for a gossip and to chase each other around. A great way to wake up!
We haven't seen this around recently - probably too much grass elsewhere to choose from. I always did like the orange hair.
Large nest in a tree near the creek but have not seen it being used. Possibly belongs to a magpie or a raven.
There have been some amazing flies around this summer.
I have a three minute video of this echidna making its way towards me on the track (I was down wind), digging and scratching.
Not every bird photo is successful. In fact most of the small birds around the bracken and lower trees move so fast that most of my photos end up like this!
Yellow-faced honeyeater.
